The Concept

What is "A caccia con Filippo"?

"A caccia con Filippo" is a collection of self-guided scavenger hunts that you play directly on your smartphone.

Instead of following a traditional tourist route, players explore Venice by solving clues, observing their surroundings, discovering local stories, and unlocking each new stage of the adventure.

Different trails offer a variety of locations, durations, difficulty levels, and types of challenges, so couples, families, groups of friends, and experienced players can choose the experience that best suits them.

4 steps

How it works.

  1. 1

    Choose Your Hunt

Select the route that best suits the time you have available, your interests, your group, and your preferred level of difficulty.

  2. 2

    Start with your phone

Open “A Caccia con Filippo” from the web app. You don’t need a traditional travel guide.

  3. 3

    Explore, Solve, Unlock

Follow the clues through Venice, explore real-life locations, solve the puzzles, and unlock each stage.

  4. 4

    Experience History

Discover the local history, hidden details, and stories connected to the places around you.

The Numbers

Tested on the streets of Venice.

"A caccia con Filippo" wasn't just an idea for an app that was never put to the test.

Over the course of three actual editions, approximately 1,200 people have already participated in the experience. More than 70 stages have been tested in the field, as the project evolved from a largely manual first edition, through an initial digital support phase, to geolocation and greater player autonomy in the third edition.

Participants ranged from children around 10 years old to adults over 70. Now the next step is to transform that experience into a scalable digital platform that tourists and residents can enjoy on their own.

Alone or in a group

Play alone or with others.

You can go on A caccia con Filippo alone, as a couple, with your family, or in a group.

A single account can be shared by those who choose to go on this journey together, on a single device. For groups that want multiple devices, additional simultaneous accounts will also be available.

When multiple players are connected to the same hunt, they all proceed together: when one player advances, the others are notified and guided to the current stage.

The platform can therefore accommodate not only tourists and families, but also schools, events, team-building activities, and organized groups.

The Story

The story behind Filippo.

The lion character is inspired by the real Filippo, a child who lives with CDKL5 deficiency syndrome.

A Caccia con Filippo is committed, over the long term, to donating 30% of its net revenue—once the service is operational—to CDKL5 - Insieme verso la Cura, in support of research.

This is an ongoing commitment by A Caccia con Filippo, not a percentage of the funds raised on Kickstarter.

The campaign

Help us bring "A Caccia con Filippo" online.

€5,000 is the starting point, not the finish line.
Additional funding will help “A Caccia con Filippo” grow, with more trails, more languages, and a richer digital experience.

The first €5,000 will support:

  • Further development and refinement of the web app
  • Creation and testing of new routes
  • Translation and Localization
  • Launch content in multiple languages
  • User Experience and User Interface Improvements
  • Field testing and quality control in Venice
  • Hosting and Technical Infrastructure
  • Audio narration by Filippo
  • Launch Announcement and Supporting Materials

If you think Venice is just pigeons in St. Mark’s Square and tourists lost with maps in hand, think again! Who would have thought that running like crazy along the canals could be so satisfying? I never would have imagined that doing something so meaningful could also be so much fun.

Curiosity. Fun. Competition. Feeling like a kid again, discovering new things, and letting yourself be amazed. Even in places you’ve passed by a thousand times without ever noticing that detail, its story, or what time has handed down to us. And time itself flows as the game unfolds: clues to find, places to reach, puzzles to solve… and the other teams—who knows how far they’ve gotten? For me, A caccia con filippo is exactly that: a journey of discovery guided by a truly well-designed app, a competition between teams where, in the end, everyone “wins” something: a wonderful day spent together, exploring one of the world’s most beautiful cities and discovering anecdotes, stories, and details that reveal a fascinating and lesser-known side of its millennia-old history.

For me, “A Caccia con Filippo” is: WARMTH—the warmth that surrounds the organization. COLOR—our brightly colored T-shirts, which brought joy to us participants and to the people we met. DISCOVERY—places and alleys I didn’t know before, and the desire to do it all over again and share the experience with others.

"A Caccia con Filippo" is more than just a project created by people who have poured their hearts and passion into it. It’s a different way to experience Venice: you live it, observe it, discover it, and learn from those who truly know the city, live it, and love it. It’s an experience that draws you into the heart of the city, making you feel like a part of what you’re discovering through its places, stories, and curiosities. Thanks to Michele and Simone, and to everyone who believes in this project. And thank you also for the support this initiative provides to a charitable cause. It’s an experience I highly recommend.

"A caccia con Filippo" is a unique and fun experience: a way to spend time together discovering, surprise after surprise, the legends and stories of the most beautiful city in the world. It’s Venice seen through the eyes of a child—someone who notices the small details that most people miss. This treasure hunt even made me want to return to Venice more often. And knowing that the project also supports medical research makes the experience even more meaningful—part of a growing spirit of solidarity. A big hug to all of you, and please be sure to invite anyone visiting from abroad to join in too!

Taking part in the scavenger hunt was absolutely worth it! Stop by stop, I discovered parts of Venice I didn’t even know existed. It was a fantastic opportunity to work as a team, meet lots of new people, and feel like I was really contributing to something important… all while having a blast!
